Home Tinting: Security
Films
“Safety Film Saves Lives and Reduces Property Damage.”

This bold statement is made in a Johnson Professional Window Film
brochure, “Safe Plus” quoting recent safety research.
Being approved by the Australian Standards AS1288-1994 “Glass
in Buildings “and AS/NZS 2208:2006” Safety Glazing Materials
in Buildings backs this statement up.
Glass can be broken by accident such as from a stray stone thrown
up by a lawn mower or from a child (or Adult) tripping and falling
through it. The injuries caused by broken glass can be horrific and
deadly. Of course Natural Disasters can also break glass and cause
it to become a projectile and cause serious injury or death.
Security film offers significantly increased strength in existing glass, increasing the time to create an opening. These films can be installed as a "daylight" application or fixed to the frame further increasing strength and protection.
Safety film substantially reduces the chance of injury caused by broken
glass. The film is thicker than ordinary solar film and has a more
powerful adhesive. The glass can still be broken but the chance of
shards and flying glass is significantly reduced.
If you have a child and low glass or glass on a stairway or other
vulnerable place it is worth removing the risk. It can be tinted so
it has the added benefits of Heat and Glare Reduction or can be clear.
Its uses are unlimited. Childcare Centres, Schools, Home Childcare
etc are all required to comply with current Safety Standards. Often
the glass in these buildings is old and people believe that to be
compliant they would need to replace it. This is usually not the case
as Safety Film fitted per the Australian Standards can bring the glass
up to specification and is a much more affordable, practical option.
